Travel program in detail

Day 1: Welcome to Cairo

At the international airport in Cairo our German speaking representative will be waiting for you with a sign “ADAMTRAVEL”. He will help you through the immigration formalities. Transfer to your hotel in a private air-conditioned vehicle. The travel companion will help you check in and explain the travel program to you. The rest of the day can be used as freetime. In the evening you can enjoy a wonderful meal.

Day 2: Pyramids of Giza, step pyramid of Saqqara

The day starts with a hearty breakfast in the hotel. Together with an experienced German-speaking Egyptologist you will drive to the pyramids of Giza: Cheops, Chefren and Mykerinos. Then admire the three pyramids from the panoramic view from a distance. The highlights are not over for today: Now the Great Sphinx is waiting for you. Only she herself knows what secrets the mystical Sphinx has kept for millennia. You end this packed but perfect cultural morning with a visit to the valley temple of King Chephren. At this point you deserve a lovely Egyptian lunch in a traditional restaurant. After lunch you will finally discover the Saqqara: the mysterious world of the pharaohs. Return to the hotel.

Day 3: City tour of Cairo and visit to the Egyptian Museum

Breakfast in the hotel. You will spend the morning with a city tour of Cairo and a visit to the Egyptian Museum. The Egyptian Museum contains over 120,000 pieces of the pharaonic monuments as well as Tutankhamun’s brilliant collection.

Alternatively: If the new National Museum is already open, you can also choose to visit it. In the National Museum you can learn a lot about all Egyptian civilizations: from prehistory to modern civilization. You can also admire more than twenty different mummies of pharaohs.

A fine, traditional lunch on the Nile awaits you.

In the afternoon, the Coptic Cairo is on the program. Some of the oldest Christian churches are located here. Visit the Hanging Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue.

Finally, round off the day with a stroll through the lively Khan El Khalili bazaar. Return to the hotel.

Day 4: Cairo - Alexandria

After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Alexandria. Alexandria is where the love story of Antony and Cleopatra began. Once there, check out the Roman amphitheater. Lunch is all about fresh fish and seafood from the Mediterranean – of course, authentically prepared in an Egyptian restaurant. Alexandria is home to the youngest of the seven wonders of the ancient world: the Qaitbay Citadel. It was built from the rubble of the destroyed Alexandria lighthouse. Visit the Qaitbay Citadel. To round off this impressive day in comfort, we go to the royal garden and the El Montazah palace. Later, end the day with dinner at the hotel and spend your first night in Alexandria.

Day 5: Alexandria - Cairo

The city tour in Alexandria starts as soon as you have strengthened yourself at the hotel with breakfast and checked out. You will then drive to the Bibliotheca Alexandria. In ancient times, the famous Alexandria library burned down. The Bibliotheca Alexandria was rebuilt in 2002 very close to the original library.

We enjoy another local lunch in a restaurant in Alexandria. Then the return journey to Cairo takes place. Check-in in the hotel.

Day 6: Cairo - Luxor and embarkation

A domestic flight from Cairo to Luxor is planned for this day. The transfers to the airport in Cairo and from Luxor airport are organized. Assistance at Luxor Airport.

You are now setting off towards the west bank of the Nile to visit the Valley of the Kings. Your ticket allows you to visit 3 different graves. Our tour guide will help you choose the best graves. Then visit the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Stop for lunch in a traditional restaurant and enjoy Upper Egyptian cuisine. Now drive to the east bank of the Nile, where your cruise ship is already waiting for you. Check-in on the ship on which you will be staying for four nights. You can spend the rest of the afternoon strolling through Luxor with our tour guide. Finally, dinner takes place on board the sailing ship.

Day 7: Start of the Nile cruise

After a leisurely breakfast on board the ship, set off again for an excursion on the mainland. You start a tour towards the east bank of the Nile to the Karnak Temple. This extends over a huge area and includes several temples, the largest of which is the Amon temple. Visit to the Luxor Temple. You will be back on board in time for lunch. The Nile cruise now starts with the journey to Aswan.

Day 8: Relaxing drive to Aswan

Breakfast on board the sailing ship. Relax as you sail along the fertile Nile Valley and pass the Isna Lock. During a sailing break, swap your current means of transport for a horse-drawn carriage and drive to the Temple of Edfu and then to the Temple of Kom Ombo. Lunch and dinner take place on board.

Day 9: Aswan - Abu Simbel

After breakfast on board, drive to Abu Simbel. Once there, visit the historic temple of Ramses II and his wife Nefertari. Together with the tour guide you will then have the opportunity to stroll through the city market of Aswan.

Lunch and dinner take place on board.

Day 10: Aswan Dam and flight back to Cairo

On this last full day of your Egypt trip you can enjoy another day tour in the city of Aswan. You will visit the dam and drive to the Philae Temple, the temple of Isis, the goddess of love. Finally, check out the unfinished Aswan Obelisk. There you will learn how the ancient Egyptians handled the huge, hard stone. The transfer to the airport of Aswan and the return flight to Cairo take place.

At the end of your trip, spend a free evening in Cairo.
