Day 7: Embarkation on the sailing ship on Lake Nasser

You have now spent half of your journey by land. Today the adventure starts on the waterway. After you have finished your breakfast in the hotel, we will start the transfer towards the Nile. You go on board the SAI – the sailing ship on which you will spend the next five days. Before you start your sailing trip, visit the Beit el-Wali rock temple. The sanctuary was built under King Ramses II. During lunch, the ship goes to the temple of Kalabsha. During a break you have the opportunity to swim in the lake. Then it’s on to Khor Al Ghazal. First dinner and first night on board the SAI.

Day 8: Gerf Hussein - Abu Steta - Maria

The day starts early: you leave the ship at sunrise. At this time of the day, the gazelles and wild asses graze on the shores of the lake. Observe this natural spectacle during a morning walk. Back on the ship, continue with some worthwhile breaks to Wadi es-Sebua, in the area of Abu Sheta to the Nubian village of Maria on the west bank of Lake Nasser. If you want, you can still dive in the lake and refresh yourself wonderfully. Dinner and accommodation on Board.

Day 9: Wadi es-Sebua - Dakka - Mehraka

Breakfast on board. Today we will visit again some interesting sites on land: the rock temple in the forest of Wadi es-Sebua and the temples of Dakka and Mehraka. While you then enjoy the onward journey on the ship, you approach the Wadi Al Arab further south. Here you can take a bath break. Relax afterwards while the ship sails to Amada.

Day 10: Amada - Kasr Ibrim - Abu Simbel

This morning you will again have breakfast on the ship, during which you can watch the migratory birds on the shores of Lake Nasser. Then you disembark and drive to Amada. Once there, take in the temples of Amada and Ed Deir and visit the tomb of Pennut. As you continue on the SAI, you will see Kasr Ibrim. Kasr Ibrim is a city on a rocky hill, which was built in the first half of the 15th century BC. Was commissioned by the then reigning Queen Hatshepsut. Today Kasr Ibrim is a ruin site and can be seen as an island in the middle of Lake Nasser.

We continue to Abu Simbel. Along this stretch of the river you will pass numerous Nubian villages. Once in Abu Simbel, take a look at the famous temple of Ramses II and his wife Nefertari.
