After breakfast, you’ll explore the Giza Plateau with your private guide, taking in the world-famous pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, as well as the impressive Sphinx. Afterward, you’ll visit the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, one of the largest archaeological museums in the world. Lunch will be served en route at a traditional restaurant.

Return to the hotel and overnight stay in Cairo.

Today marks the beginning of the true highlight of this journey through Egypt: a visit to the Church of St. Mary in Maadi, located directly on the banks of the Nile, where, according to tradition, the Holy Family arrived by boat. Afterward, we’ll continue on to the Hanging Church, one of Cairo’s oldest churches, then to the Church of St. Sergius, the Church of St. George, and the Babylon Fortress in Old Cairo, which the Holy Family is said to have passed through.

Lunch and overnight stay in Cairo.

Visit the Matariya neighborhood, home to the famous Tree of Mary, under which, according to tradition, the Holy Family rested. It is said that Jesus caused a spring to gush forth there, a site that is still venerated as a place of pilgrimage today. The tour continues to the Church of Saint Mary in Zeitoun, known for its impressive icons by Italian artists and for reported Marian apparitions in the 20th century.

Overnight stay in Cairo.

After breakfast, you’ll drive to Wadi El Natrun, located about 120 kilometers north of Cairo and one of the most significant sites in Egypt’s Christian history. You’ll visit four historic monasteries: the Anba Bishoy Monastery, the Baramus Monastery, the Abu Makar Monastery, and the El-Suryan Monastery, all of which have been continuously inhabited since the 4th century—a highlight of this journey through Egypt that very few visitors even know about. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the midst of this unique desert landscape before heading back to Cairo.

Overnight stay in Cairo.

After breakfast, the drive takes you along the coast to the monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul, which date back to the 4th century and rise spectacularly from the cliffs of the Eastern Desert — two of the oldest Christian monasteries in the world and one of the most impressive highlights of this journey through Egypt.

Afterward, continue on to El Minya for dinner and an overnight stay.

In the morning, drive to the “Mountain of Birds” (Jabal Al Tair), where there is a cave in which, according to legend, the Holy Family rested; it is situated high above the Nile and offers a sweeping view of the valley. Afterward, visit the rock-cut tombs of Beni Hasan, fascinating burial sites from the Middle Kingdom featuring vivid wall paintings depicting everyday and military life of that era.

Return to El Minya and overnight stay there.

Visit the necropolis of Tuna El-Gabal, which includes, among other sites, the tomb of Isadora and the priest’s tomb of Pet-Osiris, as well as Al-Ashmunien with its open-air museum, Babylonian statues, and a historic basilica. Continue on to Asyut, where you will visit the Al-Muharraq Monastery—one of the most significant stops on this journey through Egypt, where, according to tradition, the Holy Family stayed for over six months, longer than at any other place along their route.

Overnight stay in Assiut.

Visit the Miar rock-cut tomb complex, located about 8 kilometers west of the monastery. The tombs date from the 6th and 12th Dynasties and are among the best-preserved of their kind in all of Middle Egypt.

Return trip to Cairo and final night in the capital.

After one last, peaceful breakfast, it’s time for a gentle farewell—not only to a country, but perhaps also to an inner journey that began during these past few days. Egypt has welcomed you not only with its history, sunshine, and vast landscapes, but also with its stillness, its dignity, and a palpable spiritual depth.
